Enrollees in the Medi-Cal program said they were more likely to have issues finding a physician to provide care than Californians with other forms of insurance.

That was among the findings of a new study by the California HealthCare Foundation regarding state residents’ perspectives on healthcare.

According to the survey, 25% of those enrolled in Medi-Cal said they had difficulties finding a doctor to provide care. That compares to just 7% enrolled in Medicare plans, 10% among those who purchased coverage themselves, and 16% who have health insurance through an employer.

Along with easier access to appointments, a majority of all respondents said they wished they could email their physicians, that their doctors had more time to talk to them, and someone was available in their doctors’ office in order to answer their questions and provide followup information.
