Satisfaction with telehealth among California patients and providers Free
Dec 22, 2020

72% of all patients said they were just as, or more, satisfied with a phone visit than with their last in-person visit; 65% said they were just as, or more, satisfied with a video visit.

67% of patients with low incomes (and 66% of all patients) said their telehealth visit was a better experience than they thought it would be.

64% of patients with low incomes (and 56% of all patients) said they had an easier time keeping their appointment for a phone or video visit than they did keeping appointments for in-person visits in the past.

Impact of the Affordable Care Act in California Free

As a result of the ACA implementation in California:

California's uninsured rate has fallen from 17% to 7.1%. The number of uninsured Californians has dropped by 3.7 million.

1.5 million Californians get their coverage through Covered California.

12.5 million Californians are covered by Medi-Cal, including 3.7 million adults through the ACA expansion.

As the uninsured rate has fallen across all groups, racial disparities in coverage have declined.

Oral Health Access Among Older Californians Free
Oct 27, 2020

39% of older adults have no dental insurance, as opposed to 21% of working-age adults. 36% of older adults have private dental insurance, compared with 53% of working-age adults.

Among the lowest-income adults, 64% had public dental insurance through Medi-Cal, 16% had private insurance and 20% had no insurance at all.

59% of older adults with Medi-Cal saw a dentist within the last year; compared with 74% of uninsured older adults; and 86% of those with private insurance.
