Anthem's Investment in a Healthy California Program (IHCP) Free

Since 2005, Anthem has been directing funds through the Investment in a Healthy California Program (IHCP) to assist rural and urban healthcare facilities across the state to secure capital for construction, renovation and sustainability projects that strengthen their ability to support vulnerable communities. Anthem’s 2019 IHCP investments of $34 million have been slated for new construction, renovation and debt repayment projects in five California counties. After restoring the penalty for remaining uninsured and boosting financial help to pay for coverage (two state provisions that are new in 2020):

* About 32,000 middle-income Californians who were not eligible for federal assistance qualified for state subsidies, which averaged $504 a month. A total of about 625,000 customers qualified for the state aid.

* The two provisions helped keep premium increases to a low 0.8%, on average, for 2020.
