The Prime Healthcare hospital chain has continued its expansion outside of California with an entrance into the eastern Ohio market.

The Ontario-based Prime’s not-for-profit arm, the Prime Healthcare Foundation, has acquired River Valley Health Partners in East Liverpool, Ohio, which is essentially a far-flung suburb of Pittsburgh. Its assets are comprised of the 152-bed East Liverpool City Hospital and a home health services business that serves Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

It’s the seventh acquisition by the Prime Healthcare Foundation and the 38th hospital under Prime’s control.

"RVHP has provided high quality healthcare to the residents of East Liverpool for more than a century," said Prime Chief Executve Officer Prem Reddy, M.D. "Through our acquisition of RVHP, we look forward to partnering with physicians, nurses, employees and the community to preserve this invaluable healthcare institution for generations to come."
