Stanford Children's Health has opened a new 80,000 square-foot specialty services center in Sunnyvale.

The center houses more than 20 subspecialties of care, including endocrinology, dermatology, urology, pediatric development and adolescent medicine.

Officials said that of the visits to Stanford Children's Health facilities last year, more than half required some form of specialty care.

“Bringing access to specialty care closer to home is part of our response to an evolving healthcare environment,” said Kim Roberts, chief strategy officer and chief administrative officer physician practices at Stanford Children’s Health. “Many kids may be treated initially at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford, but their follow-up and ongoing care can be provided close to where they live.”

In addition to the specialty pediatric services, the facility is also the locale for the Stanford Medicine fertility and reproductive health services. It includes 10 exam rooms, five consultation rooms,  two treatment suites and a telemedicine suite.

Stanford Hospitals & Clinics did not disclose a price for construction.
