UCSF Contributes Nearly $9 Billion To Bay Area Economy
UC San Francisco, which is focused primarily on healthcare education, provides $8.9 billion a year to the Bay Area economy and provides about 20,000 jobs.
That makes UCSF the Bay Area's fourth-largest employer. Oakland-based Kaiser Permanente is biggest, responsible for nearly 30,000 jobs.
“We are pleased that we can drive innovation in biotechnology, produce new scientists and health professionals, and provide our community with access to the best possible healthcare,” said UCSF Chancellor Sam Hawgood.
